ULMAN ALEXANDER ABRUMOVICH was born in Alma-Ata in 1965. Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Cartography and Geoinformatics, Kazakh National University. al-Farabi. From 1982 to 1987 he studied at KazGU named after Kirov (now KazNU named after al-Farabi) majoring in geography, graduated from the university with honors. After graduating from the university, he worked as an engineer-geologist at the Kazakh Mineral Institute, then entered graduate school at the Kazakh State University. In 1996 he defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic “Processes of ravine erosion in the dry steppe foothills of the northern slopes of the Zailiyskiy Alatau”. In 1997 he received the title of “Associate Professor” of the Higher Attestation Commission. Research interests: dynamic geomorphology, engineering geomorphology, cartographic and mathematical modeling, adult pedagogy (andragogy).
